Hololens comes in 3 different version at different price points and with different features:
1.Hololens 2 plain
2.Hololens 2 Industria Edition – what is more designed to support work in regulated environments such as clean rooms and hazardous locations.
3.Hololens 2 Trimble XR10 – what is a hardhat-integrated HoloLens 2 that is built for personnel in dirty, loud, and safety-controlled work site environments.
2. . What is Microsoft Dynamics 365 Guides?
Guides is one of Microsoft’s mixed-reality application for Microsoft HoloLens that guides operators through the flow of work or a sequence of tasks by providing holographic instructions throughout the process.
Guides itself consists of 3 components:
- The Guides Solution installed on the PowerPlatform/DataVerse
- The Guides PC authoring application installed on your local machine
- The Guides Hololens application installed on the Hololens itself
3. What is DataVerse?
Dataverse (formerly common data service) lets you securely store and manage data that's used by CE business applications - such as the Guides mixed reality application. So, Guides is built on top of DatVerse. Data within Dataverse is stored within a set of tables. Dataverse comes with a base set of standard tables that cover typical scenarios, but you can also create custom tables specific to your organization if needed or if you install custom solutions it can extend/add tables also.
4. What is Dynamics 365 for Supply Chain Management – Asset Management?
Asset Management is an advanced module for managing assets and maintenance jobs in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. It lets you manage functional locations, assets, work order, maintenance requests – it included preventive and corrective maintenance, warranty tracking, maintenance budgeting planning work order scheduling, etc. Here the Data is stored, maintained and processed in the FO DB – what is a different DB than DataVerse. This is a perfect segway into DualWrite.
5. So, what is DualWrite?
Dual-write is an out-of-box infrastructure that provides near-real-time integration between customer engagement CE apps built in top of DataVerse (such as Dynamics 365 Guides) and finance and operations ERP applications where the data is stored separately in the FO DB. (D365 SCM)
The integration is facilitated via entities and DMF – and DW is so to speak the glue between FO and CE applications.
6. What Is PowerBI? In our case PowerBI desktop.
Power BI Desktop is a free application you can install on your local computer – You can download it from the MSFT store. It that lets you connect to, transform, and visualize your data. With Power BI Desktop, you can connect to multiple different sources of data (e.g.DataVerse or FO), and combine them into a data model. This data model lets you then build visuals, and collections of visuals that you can share as reports/dashboards, with other people inside your organization.
